Below are some examples of possible ways to use technology with your students. These are only examples. We're sure you can think of ideas that are much more creative!

Video
| Video Cases
| Video can be useful for studying classroom or clinical situations. Example: "A video ethnography of team teaching in a 1st grade inner city classroom during reading and math. Good example of using behaviorism in the classroom." |

| Tutorials
| Online tutorials can be helpful when learning computer applications. This example explains how to use some features of SPSS. |

Digital Archives
| Image Library
| A digital image library puts a body of images in one place for multiple possible uses by students, instructors, and researchers. |

Self-Tests
| Completion or Matching Self-Tests
| Self-tests can help students with information recall. This link goes to a page with many anatomy examples. |

| Flash Cards
| Another tool to help students with recall of information. This example quizzes student on medical terms. |

Simulations
| Gather and Apply Information
| Simulations can be used to reinforce application and analysis of information. The subject of this example is the use of Computed Tomography Aniography. |

| As a Context for Supplementary Information
| Simpler simulations can be used to give context to information, as in this example on the topic of workplace safety. |

Multiuser Environments
| Multiplayer Quiz
| Competition can be used as a motivator to learning in multiplayer quiz games like this Anatomy Quiz Bowl. |

| Virtual Reality
| Virtual reality environments can be used for sychronous meetings and collaborative work. Some institutions have created campuses within virtual reality environments, like Second Life. This link will bring you to an informational video about the New Media Consortium Second Life Campus. |

Online Journal
| Online Student Journal
Create an online student-run academic journal. Allow students from a class, program, or department to submit articles
to the student-run journal board. The example is an online journal, although not a student-run journal.

Online Courses
| Example Course
| Online courses are difficult to demonstrate, as they are time and experience dependent (just like face to face courses!),
but we have put together a short presentation that shows an
online course site and briefly talks about some of the important
issues in developing an online course.
Developing an online course requires considerable time and
commitment. Departments have developed online courses for various reasons:
- Reaching populations of students outside the Twin Cities
- Demand for courses, but no space to offer them
- Pedagogical advantages
