Guidelines for iBook Portable Lab
In order to facilitate ease of use and prolong the life of
the equipment, we ask that you please observe these guidelines concerning
the usage of the iBook Portable Computer Lab.
Set-up
-
Position the Lab Cart within reach of a wall outlet and
plug in the orange power cord.
- Unplug the iBook computers from their power supplies
inside the cart, and distribute them to the students.
Projecting
- Connect the iBook to the projector with the provided VGA
cable. Power on the projector first, followed by the laptop.
- Use the "Source" button on the projector until you get
the desired projection. Use the "Keystone" button on the projector to adjust
the quality of the projection.
Take-Down
- At the end of class, students should close all
programs and shut down the computer using the drop-down menu at the top of
their screens labeled with an apple. Closing the lid DOES NOT shut
down the computer
but puts it into a sleep mode that slowly discharges the battery and
keeps programs loaded.
- Place the laptops, turned off, into the Lab Cart with the
power outlet facing out, and connect them to their power sources.
- Return the Lab Cart to the Curriculum Library, or if the
library is closed, to another secure location. Connect the power
cord to a wall outlet to ensure that all of the laptops are fully recharged
for the next class session.
